Bring in your properties from a spreadsheet

Load properties, tenants and rents from a CSV instead of typing them again.

Before you start

You need a CSV file with one row per unit. In Excel or Google Sheets choose Save as or Download, then CSV. Importing is checked before anything is saved, so you can try it safely.

What the file should contain

  • A heading row first. Headings such as Address, Tenant, Monthly rent, Lease start and Lease end are recognised. Common alternatives like "Rent" or "Postcode" work too.
  • Leave the tenant blank for an empty unit. Use the Unit column when a building has several flats.
  • Dates can be written 01/03/2026 or 2026-03-01. If a lease has no end date, Welodge assumes one year.

The import page has a sample file you can download and copy.

Steps

  1. Go to Properties and choose Import spreadsheet.
  2. Choose your CSV file and select Check my file.
  3. Read the preview. Each row is marked Ready or Skipped, and skipped rows say why so you can fix the file and start again.
  4. Select the Import button at the bottom. Nothing is created until you do.

Good to know

  • Existing leases are loaded as active, and tenants are not emailed.
  • The preview warns you if your file has more properties than your plan allows. Rows beyond the limit are skipped, with a reason, so upgrade first if you need them all. See Plans, trial and cancelling.
  • A file you upload but never confirm is deleted after a day, because it holds your tenants' details.
